Hi everybody!
Alfie here, Club Chair, here to tell you a little bit about what’s been going on at the club in recent months.
Some of you must have been wondering about those mysterious all day commercial bookings that have been creeping in to our club calendar? We have been using those days to train up our next generation of club session coaches!
With the support of AGB’s very own head coach Lloyd Brown and senior coach Trish Lovell the following club members attended; Alfie, Martin, Sanjay, Nikhil, Kyri, Lucian, Pascal, Kathy, Ben. We were also accompanied from several archers from other clubs including Bowmen of Hampstead and London Archers.
This course was a little bit different to any ordinary session coach course because 2 BSL (British Sign Language) interpreters were on hand to assist our deaf archers, this was funded by Archery GB who have lent their support to us in our efforts to become a more inclusive club. Going forwards, we are really excited to see how Kathy and Pascal are able to help the club teach archery to other deaf people.
Next up for our new session coaches will be to timetable helping out at our taster sessions and beginner courses taking place in 2024, we already have all the dates in the diary!
With special thanks to Peter and Irene Lawrence, two of the club’s founding members, for providing their mentoring and soup making support throughout the course.
Some photographs of the course can be viewed in the gallery below.
