Safeguarding Reminders September 2024

Hi Everyone,

I hope this finds you all well. This is my first newsletter since taking on the role of the club’s Safeguarding Officer earlier this year from Dina Lowdermilk who has done an exceptional job over the past couple of years.

Below are some important safeguarding reminders and updates that I would like to share with our community.

We have updated our club’s website with some resources and hyperlinks about safeguarding. These resources have been generated by Archery GB (AGB) following a full review of their safeguarding policies which was conducted last year. These resources, under the “Quick Link Documents” section on the club’s “Safeguarding” page are as follows:

In addition, I would like to remind us all that any concerns about safeguarding need to be reported to myself as Safeguarding Officer and/or the club’s Chair.

This also includes self-reporting any issues which arise that we need to be informed about. AGBs Code of Conduct requires that members aspire to the following:

I will take personal responsibility and tell you about any changes to my personal information where my behaviour or conduct has or is may be perceived to have breached this code of conduct

One of the main hopes is that this will allow any difficult issues to be addressed at the earliest possible opportunity. I would also like to assure you that any matter reported to the safeguarding team, ours or AGBs, should be treated with the strictest confidence. My intention as Safeguarding Officer for the club is to treat all matters as sensitively and respectfully as possible and in a timely manner.

Wishing you a very good start to this new season.

Khuzuma
